Launching Life's Journeys with Manistique Lakeshore - Central To The U.P.'s Greatest Attractions
This Campground Is Central To The U.P.'s Greatest Attractions
Maris Brennan of MARVAC joins us once again today as we chat with Colleen Hoholink, who helps run the Manistique Lakeshore Campground. It’s located in Manistique, Michigan, right in the middle of the upper peninsula coastline along Lake Michigan. The campground is owned and operated by the city of Manistique and opened in 2017 with 50 full hook-up RV campsites. Each site has a 60-foot, leveled cement pad, with water, sewer, electric, WiFi, and cable included. And they run a tight ship here – the bathrooms are cleaned three times a day, there are laundry and shower facilities available, and the grounds are gorgeous.
While you’re in Manistique, take advantage of the location to visit the nearby Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls, or Big Spring. You’ll also find breweries within walking distance, restaurants and bars, art galleries, festivals, live music, and more. In this episode, we also cover:
- Steps for getting a shark-free campsite right on Lake Michigan
- How fast their books filled up for 2023 within an hour of opening them
- Which pets are allowed – and the craziest animals people have brought to the campground
- A brand new restaurant that brings THIS exotic cuisine to Manistique for the first time
- And the big festival that will be held in Manistique this year in early July
While spots have filled up quickly for 2023, you can look at open dates and make a reservation at https://manistiquelakeshorecampground.org/. For any leaf peepers, there are still open spots for September and October, some of the most beautiful times to visit the U.P. You can contact Manistique Lakeshore Campground with any questions or to make reservations over the phone at (906) 286-1696.
